At the Colorado Airport Operators Association conference June 2, Hickenlooper said the airport has demonstrated commitment to excellence for its participation in the Colorado Division of Aeronautics' General Aviation Sustainability Program.
On June 18, 2015, a Boeing C-17 Globemaster landed at the Rifle Garfield County Airport carrying a Puma helicopter brought over to perform high altitude testing by QinetiQ, a military contractor for the United Kingdom Defense Ministry.
